FTSE MIB slips Thursday as banks and energy underperform
FTSE MIB fell to around 52,700 on Thursday, with UniCredit (-0.6%) and Intesa Sanpaolo (-0.4%) lower and Eni (-1.0%) leading energy declines. Tech outperformed, led by STMicroelectronics (+3.7%).
The FTSE MIB fell to around 52,700 on Thursday, giving back gains from the previous session, as declines in heavyweight banks and energy stocks outweighed gains in technology shares.
UniCredit (-0.6%) and Intesa Sanpaolo (-0.4%) traded lower after Intesa filed a complaint with Consob over transactions announced by Monte dei Paschi following its takeover offer.
Eni (-1.0%) led losses among energy stocks, while Enel (-0.2%) and Terna (-0.3%) also moved lower, tracking crude prices following reports of diplomatic progress in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, tech shares outperformed, with STMicroelectronics (+3.7%) and Prysmian (+3.0%) leading gains, mirroring the global tech rally following Nvidia's upbeat sales forecast.
Elsewhere, investors will also focus on the Jackson Hole meeting, which begins Thursday, with Fed Chair Kevin Warsh set to speak Friday.
