European shares steady as Nvidia forecast lifts AI stocks

European shares were mixed: STOXX 50 rose 0.1% while STOXX 600 fell 0.2%. AI stocks gained after Nvidia’s upbeat sales forecast; ASML, ASM International, Siemens Energy and SAP also rose.

European shares were largely subdued on Thursday, with the STOXX 50 edging 0.1% higher and the broader STOXX 600 slipping 0.2%.

AI-related stocks, however, rallied after Nvidia's upbeat sales forecast eased concerns over the sector's stretched valuations.

ASML Holding gained 1.5%, while ASM International advanced 2.7%.

Siemens Energy, which supplies turbines used in data centers, rose 2.3%, and software group SAP added 1%.

Chipmaker STMicroelectronics was among the strongest performers, surging 3.5%.

Energy majors fell as oil prices continued to decline, while miners also slipped.

Among individual movers, French spirits group Pernod Ricard dropped 1.5% after reporting a larger-than-expected decline in sales.

Germany's Delivery Hero edged 0.4% higher after raising its 2026 outlook.

Investors will also focus on the Jackson Hole meeting, which begins Thursday, with Fed Chair Kevin Warsh set to speak Friday.
