SpaceX plans to build a $100 bln Starship launch base on Pecan Island on Louisiana's southern coast, its third Starship launch site. The site would cover about 125,000 acres and include five launch complexes, 10 pads, on—site propellant production, power generation, vehicle processing and employee housing. SpaceX says the base will raise Starship launch cadence and support plans to deploy up to 1 million data—center satellites; Starship will also launch upgraded Starlink satellites, with an orbital data—center mission as early as 2027 and a NASA crewed lunar mission as early as 2028.
