Baltic Dry Index rises 1.5% to 2,926; Capesize earnings up

The Baltic Dry Index rose 44 points, or 1.5%, to 2,926 on Tuesday, with Capesize and Panamax sub-indexes posting gains and higher average daily earnings.

The Baltic Capesize Index (BCI) gained 92 points, or 2.0%, to 4,735, its strongest since Aug.

11; Capesize average daily earnings rose $840 to $39,442.

The Baltic Panamax Index (BPI) climbed 35 points, or 2.0%, to 2,166, marking a third straight session of gains; Panamax average daily earnings increased $318 to $19,496.

The Baltic Supramax Index (BSI) edged up 2 points, or 0.1%, to 1,643.
