In oil, WTI crude is at 82.57, down 2.87 percent and Brent crude is at 88.17, down 2.62 percent.
UK volume leaders: Lloyds Banking Group up 0.31 percent, BP down 0.26 percent, Barclays up 0.22 percent, HSBC up 0.01 percent and Shell down 0.37 percent. continental European volume leaders: Novartis up 0.33 percent, UBS up 0.35 percent, Deutsche Telekom down 0.07 percent, Nestle down 0.72 percent and SAP down 0.24 percent.
