The DAX 40 rose 0.4% to surpass 26,200 on Tuesday, following a downbeat session in the prior day, amid some relief after the latest US sanctions on Iran proved less severe than feared.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced Monday a global sanctions program targeting countries that maintain economic and trade ties with Iran, but traders viewed them as unlikely to significantly disrupt oil supplies.

In the meantime, chip stocks attempted to stabilize ahead of Nvidia's earnings report.

Infineon Technologies led gains, rising more than 2%, along with AI-related stocks.

Siemens Energy also ranked among the top performers, gaining 1.4% after reports that the company had commissioned Goldman Sachs to prepare for a potential sale of its majority stake in its steam turbine business.
