U.S. Initial Jobless Claims Fall to 206,000
U.S. initial jobless claims declined by 6,000 to 206,000 in the second week of August, below market estimates of 210,000, while the Philadelphia Fed Manufacturing Index rose to 47.4 in August from 41.4.
U.S. stocks traded lower this morning, with the Dow Jones falling around 300 points on Thursday.
Following the market opening Thursday, the Dow traded down 0.64% to 53,122.31 while the NASDAQ fell 0.37% to 26,234.05.
The S&P 500 also fell, dropping, 0.20% to 7,692.61.
Leading and Lagging Sectors Energy shares jumped by 1.4% on Thursday.
In trading on Thursday, consumer stapled stocks fell by 1.6%.

Equities Trading UP Jianzhi Education Tclgy Grp Co Ltd — ADR (NASDAQ: JZ ) shares shot up 150% to $4.25.
Shares of Huize Holding Ltd (NASDAQ: HUIZ ) got a boost, surging 71% to $2.49 after the company reported H1 2026 results.
Reitar Logtech Holdings Ltd ( NASDAQ: RITR ) shares were also up, gaining 100% to $0.15.
Equities Trading DOWN Onfolio Holdings Inc ( NASDAQ: ONFO ) shares dropped 35% to $1.55 after the company reported a year-over-year decrease in its Q2 financial results.
Shares of Tenon Medical Inc ( NASDAQ: TNON ) were down 32% to $7.71.
Tenon Medical recently received a notice of allowance for a U.S.
Patent Titled "Systems, Apparatus and Methods for Stabilizing Sacroiliac Joints." Surgepays Inc (NASDAQ: SURG ) was down, falling 33% to $0.16.
SurgePays, on Friday, reported better-than-expected second-quarter financial results.
Commodities In commodity news, oil traded up 2.7% to $88.17 while gold traded down 0.4% at $4,525.10.
Silver traded up 1.1% to $66.525 on Thursday, while copper fell 1.3% to $6.4110.
Euro zone European shares were lower today.
The eurozone's STOXX 600 declined 0.4%, while Spain's IBEX 35 Index fell 0.3%, London's FTSE 100 fell 0.4%, Germany's DAX declined 0.6%, while France's CAC 40 dipped 0.6%.
Asia Pacific Markets Asian markets closed higher on Thursday, with Japan's Nikkei 225 gaining 1.36%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index gaining 0.80%, China's Shanghai Composite rising 0.24% and India's BSE Sensex surging 0.82%.
