Intel Corp. (NASDAQ: INTC ) stock is trading lower by almost 2% during Thursday's premarket session as risk appetite cools across equities.

Chip stocks are also tracking the softer market tone.

Nasdaq futures are down 0.82%, while S&P 500 futures have shed 0.54%.

Intel's early decline appears tied to the broader premarket pullback rather than a company-specific headline.

Traders are taking a more defensive stance ahead of the opening bell.

With major index futures pointing lower, Intel is also feeling pressure from weaker sentiment across the technology sector.

Technical Analysis Intel is in a near-term pullback.

The stock is trading below its 20-day simple moving average of $96.22, 50-day SMA of $108.84 and 100-day SMA of $99.46.

That setup could keep near-term rallies under pressure.

However, Intel remains above its 200-day SMA of $70.99.

That suggests the longer-term uptrend remains intact despite the recent weakness.

Momentum is also showing signs of improvement.

The moving average convergence divergence indicator is above its signal line, while the histogram is positive.

This suggests selling pressure may be easing.

In simple terms, a MACD reading above the signal line can indicate that sellers are losing control.

However, Intel has yet to reclaim its key short-term moving averages.

Key Support: $89.50 is a nearby level where buyers previously stepped in.

A break below that level could shift attention toward the mid-$80 range.

Edge Rankings The Edge scorecard highlights Intel's strengths and weaknesses compared with the broader market.

Momentum: Bullish, with a score of 98.29.

Intel continues to screen as a momentum leader despite its recent pullback below key short-term moving averages.

The Verdict: Intel's Edge score points to a momentum-driven setup.

The key question is whether improving momentum can help the stock reclaim its 20-day and 50-day moving averages.

Otherwise, shares may need more time to build a base near support.
