CrowdStrike faces earnings test on ARR growth and valuation
CrowdStrike Holdings enters fiscal second-quarter 2027 earnings with analysts focused on net new ARR around $285 million, revenue of $1.44 billion and EPS of 29 cents.
CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: CRWD ) is heading into fiscal second-quarter 2027 earnings with strong partner feedback, continued gains in endpoint security and growing adoption across its broader cybersecurity platform, while investors watch whether the company can deliver enough upside to justify its premium valuation.
Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Jonathan Ruykhaver maintained CrowdStrike with an Overweight and lowered the price target from $725 to $250. • CrowdStrike Holdings stock is taking a hit today.
Why are CRWD shares down? Cantor Sees Potential for ARR Upside Ruykhaver forecasts fiscal second-quarter net new annual recurring revenue of $285 million, up 29% year over year and within management’s $284 million to $286 million guidance.
The analyst believes CrowdStrike needs to produce more than 32% net new ARR growth, or roughly $292 million, to support current valuation levels.
That would represent about an $8 million beat versus consensus.
He cautioned that merely meeting expectations without raising guidance could create doubts about second-half momentum.
Ruykhaver expects second-quarter revenue of $1.44 billion and EPS of 29 cents (up from prior forecast of $1.17).
Partner Checks Signal Healthy Demand Cantor surveyed 26 CrowdStrike partners, with 58% reporting results above plan, compared with 57% in the previous quarter.
Another 31% performed in line with plan, while 12% fell short.
Ruykhaver said partners continue to see endpoint market-share gains alongside demand for Next-Gen SIEM, cloud security, identity protection and EDR/XDR.
Falcon Flex and AI Security Expand the Opportunity Ruykhaver views Falcon Flex as an important driver of platform consolidation.
ARR from Flex customers exceeded $1.9 billion in the first quarter, growing more than 99% year over year.
CrowdStrike also reported 480 Re-Flex customers, which generated an average ARR increase of 26%.
He also sees substantial long-term potential in AI Detection and Response.
CrowdStrike reported AIDR ARR growth of more than 250% quarter over quarter and a second-quarter pipeline exceeding $50 million.
Cantor’s survey showed 50% of partners had customers actively evaluating AI-security products, although Ruykhaver expects most spending to materialize in late 2026 and 2027.
Proprietary Data Could Strengthen CrowdStrike’s AI Position Ruykhaver believes CrowdStrike’s security datasets, industry expertise and Project QuiltWorks give the company important advantages as AI reshapes cybersecurity.
He views QuiltWorks as a potential catalyst for additional sales across Exposure Management, Next-Gen SIEM and cloud-security offerings.
He also believes CrowdStrike’s position across endpoint, cloud, identity, SIEM and AI security supports its premium valuation, though that valuation leaves investors expecting continued strong execution.
