Home Depot earnings top estimates as Nasdaq drops 1.25%
Home Depot (NYSE: HD) reports second-quarter earnings of $4.92 per share and sales of $47.861 billion, both above analyst consensus, while the Nasdaq falls 1.25%.
U.S. stocks traded lower this morning, with the Nasdaq Composite falling more than 1% on Tuesday.
Following the market opening Tuesday, the Dow traded down 0.08% to 53,416.87 while the NASDAQ fell 1.25% to 26,310.99.
The S&P 500 also fell, dropping, 0.55% to 7,702.64.
Leading and Lagging Sectors Health care shares jumped by 1.8% on Tuesday.
In trading on Tuesday, information technology stocks fell by 1.9%.
Top Headline Home Depot Inc (NYSE: HD ) reported better-than-expected earnings for the second quarter on Tuesday.
The company posted quarterly earnings of $4.92 per share which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $4.73 per share.
The company reported quarterly sales of $47.861 billion which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $47.271 billion.
Equities Trading UP Profusa Inc (NASDAQ: PFSA ) shares shot up 193% to $13.26 after rising around 27% on Monday.
Profusa recently announced a 1-for-4 reverse stock split.
Shares of Xos Inc (NASDAQ: XOS ) got a boost, surging 106% to $4.32 after the electric fleet and energy solutions company secured its first military award.
Wetour Robotics Ltd ( NASDAQ: WETO ) shares were also up, gaining 73% to $42.62 after gaining 397% on Monday.
Equities Trading DOWN Lucas GC Ltd ( NASDAQ: LGCL ) shares dropped 79% to $0.30.
Shares of Synergy CHC Corp ( NASDAQ: SNYR ) were down 31% to $0.11 after dipping 7% on Monday.
Ucloudlink Group Inc (NASDAQ: UCL ) was down, falling 28% to $0.49 after the company reported worse-than-expected second-quarter financial results and cut its FY26 sales guidance below estimates.
Commodities In commodity news, oil traded up 0.8% to $85.18 while gold traded down 0.5% at $4,451.30.
Silver traded down 1.5% to $65.250 on Tuesday, while copper fell 0.9% to $6.5585.
Euro zone European shares were mostly lower today.
The eurozone’s STOXX 600 fell 0.3%, while Spain’s IBEX 35 Index gained 0.4% London’s FTSE 100 gained 0.3%, Germany’s DAX declined 0.3%, while France’s CAC 40 dropped 0.4%.
Asia Pacific Markets Asian markets closed mixed on Tuesday, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 dipping 2.54%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index gaining 0.07%, China’s Shanghai Composite rising 0.19% and India’s BSE Sensex falling 0.63%.
Economics The New York Fed’s services business activity index declined to 0.5 in August from a reading of 8.7 in July.
U.S. export prices declined 1.3% month-over-month in July, following a revised 0.7% fall in June.
U.S. import prices fell by 0.4% month-over-month in July, compared to a revised 0.3% decline in the previous month and versus market estimates of a 0.1% rise.
U.S. housing starts fell by 12.4% from the previous month to an annualized rate of 1.239 units in July.
U.S. building permits gained by 5% month-over-month to an annual rate of 1.443 million in July, versus market estimates of 1.37 million.
