U.S. retail sales fall 0.6% in July, missing estimates
U.S. retail sales decline 0.6% month-over-month in July after a 0.2% gain in June, missing estimates for a 0.1% rise.
U.S. stocks traded mixed this morning, with the Nasdaq Composite gaining around 0.2% on Friday.
Following the market opening Friday, the Dow traded down 0.06% to 53,807.42 while the NASDAQ rose 0.16% to 26,845.98.
The S&P 500 also rose, gaining, 0.05% to 7,802.73.
Leading and Lagging Sectors Communication services shares jumped by 0.8% on Friday.
In trading on Friday, health care stocks fell by 0.8%.
Top Headline U.S. retail sales declined 0.6% month-over-month in July, following a 0.2% gain in June and missing market estimates of a 0.1% rise.
The region's retail sales fell for the first time since October 2025.
Equities Trading UP Wetour Robotics Ltd (NASDAQ: WETO ) shares shot up 150% to $9.02.
Shares of Steakholder Foods Ltd — ADR (NASDAQ: STKH ) got a boost, surging 105% to $5.91.
MDxHealth SA ( NASDAQ: MDXH ) shares were also up, gaining 82% to $0.84 after the company reported better-than-expected second-quarter sales results and affirmed its FY26 sales guidance above estimates.
Equities Trading DOWN Innventure Inc ( NASDAQ: INV ) shares dropped 47% to $1.91 after the company reported mixed quarterly financial results.
Shares of CXApp Inc ( NASDAQ: CXAI ) were down 42% to $0.10 after announcing a 1-for-50 reverse stock split.
Microvision Inc (NASDAQ: MVIS ) was down, falling 40% to $2.26 after the company announced a $17 million offering of 6.8 million units at $2.50 per unit.
Commodities In commodity news, oil traded down 0.1% to $81.24 while gold traded up 0.2% at $4,431.10.
Silver traded up 0.4% to $65.220 on Friday, while copper fell 0.2% to $6.5940.
Euro zone European shares were mostly higher today.
The eurozone's STOXX 600 gained 0.1%, while Spain's IBEX 35 Index rose 0.1% London's FTSE 100 fell 0.1%, Germany's DAX gained 0.8%, while France's CAC 40 rose 0.1%.
Asia Pacific Markets Asian markets closed mixed on Friday, with Japan's Nikkei 225 gaining 0.59%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index falling 1.10%, China's Shanghai Composite rising 0.01% and India's BSE Sensex falling 0.09%.
