European markets close mixed; FTSE 100 leads declines

European cash markets finished mixed: the Euro Stoxx 50 closed up 0.18 percent, the DAX closed down 0.12 percent, the CAC 40 closed down 0.28 percent and the FTSE 100 closed down 0.56 percent.

UK volume leaders were Lloyds Banking Group up 0.09 percent, Barclays down 0.08 percent, BP down 1.56 percent, HSBC down 0.78 percent and Shell down 1.04 percent. continental European volume leaders were UBS down 0.37 percent, Deutsche Telekom up 0.96 percent, Nestle up 2.54 percent, Novartis down 0.37 percent and Sanofi up 1.34 percent.
