IonQ Inc. (NYSE: IONQ ) stock traded higher Friday after the quantum computing company posted stronger-than-expected second-quarter results, raised its full-year outlook and announced new defense contract developments a day earlier.

The Nasdaq gained 0.82%, the S&P 500 rose 0.53% and the Technology sector advanced 0.87%.

Q2 Earnings Beat Drives Optimism IonQ reported second-quarter revenue of $80.1 million, topping analyst estimates of $49.74 million.

The company also raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to $280 million-$290 million from $260 million-$270 million, citing continued organic growth in its quantum computing business.

The quarter also marked a strategic milestone as IonQ completed its acquisition of SkyWater Technology and advanced testing of its 256-qubit quantum system, further expanding its hardware capabilities.

Analysts Highlight Organic Growth, One-Time Charges Following the results, analysts pointed to the company's stronger revenue mix while noting the impact of acquisition-related costs.

Rosenblatt analyst John McPeake maintained a Buy rating, saying the revenue beat was driven by quantum computing demand and "was hence organic," while noting that "higher one-time and some ongoing SkyWater expenses impacted EBITDA." Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Troy Jensen highlighted the company's reported net loss of $1.87 billion, which was largely attributable to "a $1.6B mark-to-market loss on the fair value of warrant liabilities." Needham analyst Quinn Bolton said revenue remained well diversified, with international customers contributing about 50% of revenue, commercial customers about 60% and multi-product sales roughly 25%.

DARPA Contract Expands Government Business Separately, IonQ said Thursday it received a $28 million contract modification from DARPA under the It's About Time program to expand production of its Evergreen-05 optical atomic clocks for U.S. government applications.

The award covers manufacturing development and delivery of 25 clocks, while an unexercised $30 million option would fund 100 additional units, bringing the total potential contract value to $58 million and total deliveries to 125 clocks.

IonQ also plans to invest $15 million to expand manufacturing capacity and testing capabilities.

The stock carries a consensus Buy rating with an average price forecast of $62.22, based on 17 analysts.

That suggests the recent rebound has gained momentum.

However, the stock remains 10.5% below its 50-day moving average of $48.66 and roughly 4% to 5% below its 100-day and 200-day moving averages.

Those longer-term indicators suggest the stock is still rebuilding its trend rather than confirming a sustained breakout.

The reading suggests the stock is neither overbought nor oversold, leaving room for additional gains if buying continues.

The chart also presents mixed longer-term signals.

A death cross formed in February, signaling earlier weakness, while a golden cross in June pointed to improving long-term momentum.
