AMD buys Taalas for AI inference tech
AMD TO ACQUIRE AI CHIP STARTUP TAALAS AMD signed a definitive agreement to acquire Toronto-based Taalas, which develops specialized silicon designed to improve AI inference efficiency by reducing compute and memory bottlenecks.
AMD plans to integrate the technology into its accelerator roadmap and develop system-level solutions alongside its Instinct GPUs, complementing Helios, EPYC and ROCm.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Taalas' Canadian engineering team will remain with the combined company.
