Iran proposes no transit fees for ships in Strait of Hormuz
CBS reports sources say an Iran-Oman proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz would not levy transit or service fees on ships.
Under the plan, inbound vessels would use the route closest to Iran, coordinated by Tehran, while outbound ships would use the route closest to Oman, coordinated by Muscat.
The fee exemption addresses a key sticking point in talks among the US, Iran and mediators.
If approved, the US and Iran would return to negotiations under a June memorandum of understanding that requires free passage within 60 days.
