Here’s what investors need to know.
Bloom Energy stock is charging ahead with explosive momentum.
What’s behind BE gains? Regional Data and Efficiency Benchmarks Hunterbrook’s investigation alleges the company’s underlying fuel cells consistently fail to meet advertised performance metrics.
According to Hunterbrook’s analysis of 15 years of public generation data across the U.S. and South Korea, Bloom’s fuel cells appear to fall short of promised efficiency, overall output and lifespan.
The report argues that deployed systems routinely degrade below Bloom’s disclosed efficiency benchmarks long before the company’s advertised five-year replacement interval.
Bloom Energy did not immediately respond to ’s request for comment.
Performance Metrics Across Key Markets In New York, Hunterbrook calculated that all 37 metered systems dropped below the efficiency benchmark at a median of just 20 months, with only one unit on pace to survive five years.
Furthermore, the company’s 95% output benchmark was missed almost universally across evaluated regions.
The report highlighted one New York customer who claimed Bloom paid a “multimillion-dollar” penalty for failing to meet its contractual guarantees.
These findings are a potential threat to Bloom’s recent data center momentum.
Hunterbrook argues this rapid hardware degradation means AI data centers would need to consume more natural gas, install extra units and replace components far more frequently than expected.
Hunterbrook’s Initial Report, Management Response This latest report follows an earlier investigation published by Hunterbrook in early July, which questioned Bloom’s accounting practices and claimed the company faced potential supply deficits and reliance on Chinese suppliers for scandium oxide.
Bloom Energy firmly rejected those earlier allegations as “false and misleading,” stating it stands behind its audited financial statements and maintains a diversified, multi-country supply chain fully capable of supporting its production needs.
Record Q2 Financial Results The short report arrives right on the heels of Bloom Energy’s record-breaking second-quarter earnings results released Tuesday after market close.
The company surpassed $1 billion in quarterly revenue for the first time, reaching $1.065 billion, a 166% year-over-year surge that comfortably beat Wall Street estimates of $823 million.
Bloom also posted adjusted earnings of 78 cents per share, nearly double analysts’ expectations, fueled by rapid-deployment power demand from AI data centers, and raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to between $3.9 billion and $4.2 billion.
Bloom Energy Shares Surge Thursday Afternoon BE Price Action: Bloom Energy shares were up 25.06% at $204.78 at the time of publication on Thursday, according to Pro data.
