FTSE EU SAS receives ESMA authorisation for endorsement of third-country benchmarks under the EU Benchmark Regulation FTSE Russell, global index provider, today announced that its Paris-based operating subsidiary, FTSE EU SAS, has received authorisation from the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA).

The authorisation enables endorsement of third-country significant and climate benchmarks to be provided in the EU under the EU Benchmark Regulation (EU BMR).

This successful application ensures that FTSE Russell’s indices can continue to be used by market participants across the EU and supports its long-term growth strategy in the region.

It reinforces FTSE Russell’s commitment to the highest standards of governance, transparency, and oversight in benchmark administration.

Gerald Toledano, General Manager at FTSE EU SAS, said: “We are pleased to receive ESMA authorisation for endorsement, a significant milestone for FTSE Russell and our clients across Europe.

This ensures the continued use of our benchmarks within the EU and reflects the high standards that underpin our index business.

Europe continues to be a strategically important market for FTSE Russell.

This achievement demonstrates our long-term commitment to supporting our clients, investing in local capabilities, and delivering the transparent, reliable benchmarks that investors and market participants depend on.” This endorsement follows the authorisation of FTSE EU SAS as a benchmark administrator by the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) in November 2025.

It is not expected to result in any changes to the operational arrangements of current benchmarks or the contractual arrangements between entities and their clients.
