SoFi Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFI ) shares are trading higher by more than 5% on Monday as the stock pushes back toward a key technical inflection area with earnings on Wednesday.

Here’s what investors need to know.

SoFi Technologies stock is surging to new heights today.

Why is SOFI stock up today? What To Watch Ahead of SoFi’s July 29 Earnings The near-term driver is positioning into SoFi’s July 29 earnings report, after the stock recently saw caution ahead of results and traders focused on whether the next update can reset sentiment.

Wall Street is looking for EPS of 11 cents on revenue of $1.11 billion, versus 8 cents and $858.23 million in the prior-year quarter.

Valuation is also part of the setup, with SoFi recently trading around 39.2x earnings, keeping the bar high for any upside surprise as the stock tries to reclaim levels like $18.50.

With Financials leading today and seven sectors advancing, SoFi is catching a supportive backdrop rather than fighting the tape.

Still, the stock’s bigger-than-sector pop suggests some traders are leaning into an earnings-week rebound attempt rather than treating it as a simple sector beta move.

Critical Technical Levels For SoFi Stock SoFi is trading 3.6% below its 20-day SMA ($17.77) and essentially flat versus its 50-day and 100-day SMAs (both near $17.15–$17.16), which frames the current action as a tug-of-war around the intermediate trend.

The longer-term picture remains pressured, with the stock still 20.4% below its 200-day SMA ($21.54) and a death cross that formed in March.

Momentum is best read through RSI, which sits at 48.27—neutral and consistent with a stock that’s been chopping rather than trending hard.

In plain terms, RSI helps gauge whether buying or selling has become "stretched," and this reading says neither side has clear control right now.

Key Resistance: $18.50 — a nearby pivot where rebounds can stall, and a level traders are watching for a cleaner trend shift Key Support: $15.50 — a recent buyer-defense zone near the lower end of the stock’s recent range and not far above the $14.92 52-week low SoFi Analyst Rating Updates For July 2026 Analyst Consensus & Recent Actions: The stock carries a Hold rating with an average price forecast of $22.67.

Recent analyst moves include: Truist Securities: Hold (Raises Target to $18.00) (July 24) Goldman Sachs: Neutral (Raises Target to $21.00) (July 9) SoFi Stock Price Movement on Monday SOFI Stock Price Activity: SoFi Technologies shares were up 2.73% at $16.92 at the time of publication on Monday, according to Pro data.
