On the earnings front, Goldman Sachs, on July 14, posted upbeat earnings for the second quarter.
The firm reported earnings of $20.98 per share, well above the analyst consensus estimate of $14.40.
Net revenue increased 39% year over year to $20.34 billion, beating the consensus estimate of $16.13 billion, driven by strength in its Global Banking & Markets business.

Terranova, senior managing director for Virtus Investment Partners, picked Diamondback Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: FANG ) amid a surge in oil prices.
Supporting his view, Susquehanna analyst Biju Perincheril, on Tuesday, maintained Diamondback Energy with a Positive and raised the price target from $245 to $255.
