Britain aims to become the first major advanced economy to issue a digital sovereign bond, with issuance expected by early next year, finance minister Rachel Reeves said in her annual Mansion House speech, Reeves said further issuance is planned following the initial sale of the "Digital Gilt Instrument," a pilot testing how distributed-ledger technology could improve capital market efficiency and reduce costs for financial institutions, the report said.
