Engie to Build 400 kilometers of Power Lines in Peru

Electricity provider Engie will develop more than 400 kilometers of new transmission lines in Peru, having been awarded four major projects by ProInversion under the public-private partnership framework, the company said on Thursday. Engie will also develop six new substations and expand 10 existing substations, according to the statement. The awarded projects under a 30-year concession include the 500-kilovolt Miguel Grau-Parinas Transmission Line, the 220-kV Felam-Tierras, Nuevas-Salitral and Muyurina-Mollepata Transmission Lines and the new 220/60-kV Palian Substation. The projects, worth at least $230 million, are expected to begin commercial operation in 2031. Engie said its transmission lines in operation or under development in Peru now span about 650 kilometers following the project awards.
